What Are Dental Implants?
Tooth loss can lead to poor nutrition, gum disease, loss of additional teeth, low self-esteem, difficulty speaking, and a hit to your quality of life. At Smiles by Hanna, we never want to see anyone suffer from tooth loss’s physical and emotional consequences. Dental implants truly offer exceptional versatility, durability, functionality, and a lifetime of benefits other options can’t match! Dental implants are artificial tooth roots made of biocompatible materials like titanium, designed to support a replacement tooth or bridge.
They are surgically placed into the jawbone, fusing with the bone to provide a stable and long-lasting foundation for crowns, bridges, or dentures. Dental implants mimic natural teeth’ function and appearance, restoring aesthetics and chewing ability. When you get dental implants in Gilbert, AZ, from our highly trained and experienced implant dentist, Dr. Hanna Mansoor, you’ll experience tremendous benefits.

Our Versatile Dental Implant Options
Single Implants
Simply put, a dental implant functions like a natural tooth root, helping stimulate your jawbone and keep it healthy. The abutment connects the screw-like post to the restorative crown. Depending on the type and brand of the dental implant, this connecting piece can be built into the post or separate. After the dental implant fuses with your underlying bone in a process called osseointegration, we’ll fit you with a beautiful crown fabricated from zirconia.
Dental Bridges
A traditional bridge is a tooth replacement option for one or more missing teeth in a row. Traditional bridges can cause the surrounding bone to weaken because the root isn’t replaced under the false tooth. In addition, they require modification and crowns on perfectly healthy adjacent teeth for support. Implant-supported bridges in Gilbert, AZ, integrate with your natural bone, providing a much stronger and more natural restoration for a minimum of two missing teeth in a row. While this type of bridge can be supported with just a few implants, the number is based on how many teeth you’re missing.
Implant-Supported Dentures
Implant-supported dentures at Smiles by Hanna are a happy medium between conventional dentures and full mouth dental implants. They are firmly anchored to dental implants surgically placed in your jawbone. This provides exceptional stability, the ability to eat many of your favorite foods, speak with greater confidence, and engage in social interactions without worrying about denture movement, and the ability to eat many of your favorite foods without worrying about denture movement. This type of denture can be removable or fixed, depending on your personal preference and clinical needs.
Full Mouth Dental Implants
Whether missing most of your teeth or struggling with ill-fitting dentures, full mouth dental implants in Gilbert, AZ, will transform your smile and life, the streamlined All-on-4® procedure requires a minimum of four dental implants per arch to support a new set of teeth. Due to the strategic placement of the dental implants in areas of your jawbone with the greatest density, you likely won’t need bone grafting. We also offer several other full arch implant protocols that deliver long-lasting, fully functional, and beautiful teeth that restore your ability to eat, speak, and smile confidently. And in most cases, we can fit you with temporary teeth the same day as surgery!
Your Journey to a Rejuvenated Smile with Dental Implants
During your dental implant consultation at Smiles by Hanna, Dr. Mansoor will assess your oral health, discuss your desired outcome, answer any questions, and determine the best treatment. If you have signs of gum disease, this must be resolved first because implants require a healthy, infection-free foundation. At this visit, we’ll take a cone beam computed tomography scan to determine the density and quality of your jawbone and pinpoint nerves and sinuses to ensure precision planning and fully guided placement.
Before placing your dental implant(s), we administer your choice of sedation in addition to a local anesthetic to numb the area. Dr. Mansoor uses a fully guided digital process to precisely place implants below your gumline and into the jawbone in predetermined locations.
Once you’re comfortable, a small incision is made in your gum tissue to access the bone; the implant post is inserted. An implant cap may be placed on a single implant to enhance healing and prevent damage or infection. In most cases, temporary teeth can be placed on the same day as full arch surgery.
We’ll provide follow-up care instructions and schedule appointments to ensure healing is progressing without complications. Our team will check your gums, implants, and surrounding teeth during periodic follow-up visits for potential problems. Issues that can impede the successful integration of implants include trauma, bruxism (teeth clenching/grinding), tissue inflammation, bleeding when tissue is probed, infection, and plaque or tartar buildup. An inflammatory condition called peri-implantitis can cause dental implant failure and is most often caused by inadequate oral hygiene.
Dental implants gradually fuse with your jawbone over three to six months. After the implant has completely fused with your jawbone, Dr. Mansoor uncovers the post and attaches the abutment that acts as an anchor for the replacement crown. It takes about two weeks for your gums to heal around the abutment.
If you received full mouth dental implants, your temporary denture fabricated from PMMA is replaced with beautiful permanent teeth crafted from zirconia. Whether you received a single implant, bridge, implant-supported denture, or full mouth dental implant at Smiles by Hanna, you’ll enjoy newfound confidence and function that comes with a complete smile and a 10-year warranty!
